As you know, they are working towards becoming a designated National Green School. One of the many changes that we have made is trying to reduce the amount of trash our school produces. We recycle aluminum, glass, plastic, and paper already. We would like to continue to reduce the amount of trash by having the kids use cloth napkins instead of the throw-away kind.
So, over the past week, parents have made and sold over 300 napkins to support this effort. We are running low on fabric, so we are asking for volunteers to make napkins out of your scrap material. The size can range from 9 x9 to 12 x 12 inches. The only sewing we need is to have the edges sewed so they won't fray. Our small school only has a few people who sew, so if you have the time to run a couple of quick seams, that would be so much appreciated!
All the proceeds will go to our Green School initiative fund and will benefit not only the students and the school, but will have a great environmental impact for our community!
Thanks in advance (you two know who you are who already volunteered!) for your help. Please use the Email link (in the TV above) to contact me for my mailing address! i will make sure the napkins get to the school.
Love you guys!,

Aw, how nice. What a great idea. So how have you been? I have had issues with my computer. "Any who" hahaha I read your post below.(wink) I admit i will write it, not sure what makes me chose the saying? So sorry I can't explain. I sew. I will see what I have as far as scraps. Have a great day, love your sugar shaker!
ReplyDeleteI will through my box of crafting stuff I brought with me to see what I have in the way of scrap material and make you some napkins. I will email you and let you know. :)
ReplyDeleteI already told you that I would definitely make some and I will post about this tonight on my blog about it...we can do it!
ReplyDeleteLove you...Marlene
I love you girls...I knew you would pull through for a good cause!
ReplyDeleteCan we just donate cloth napkins? I don't sew but would donate some!
ReplyDeleteHallie
@Hallie- YES! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI'll post about it too! I've got fabric but not a lot of time right now. Maybe by getting the word out we can find some more sewers for you! It's a great/easy way to help others
ReplyDeleteThat is one of the coolest ideas ever. I so would volunteer, but my freaking sewing machine messed up last week when I was stitching on the girls' Girl Scout patches. I cannot figure out how to fix it either. If I get it working again in the next week or 2 I will send you a few.
ReplyDeleteIs there a time limit for the napkins?
ReplyDelete@Baroness
ReplyDeleteNo, no time limit...we will be selling them all year!
