Fun Monday- We Are But Dreamers

Yet it is in our idleness, in our dreams, that the submerged truth sometimes comes to the top.
~Virginia Woolf

Today our Fun Monday hostess is the tiny Lil Mouse. She chose a fun theme:

Strange Dreams. Do you have any dreams, particularly recurrent ones that you feel no one else has? I recently talked to my friend Stacy on the phone and found out that we’d had the same odd, recurrent dream. Or, just tell us about an odd dream you had as a kid (did you dream you were falling and end up on the floor?)

As a child I used to constantly dream about a man dressed up in a Spiderman-like suit that chased me around our above-ground pool in my back yard. We would run around and around and with each revolution, he would come closer and closer. If he touched me, I would freeze into a statue. Just as he was about to touch me, I would wake up! I have no idea why I would dream this over and over, but I did.

As an adult I used to have a dream that a person (an actual person I knew in my past) kidnapped me (I was a teen in the dream). We are in a car and he is driving really fast away from my family into a wooded area. The trees and ground are rushing by. I am petrified and disoriented by the speed and fear. I consider jumping out of the moving car. Just as I am about to bail, I wake up. Usually this one causes me to wake up crying, heart pounding, and sweat pouring. Thankfully this dream has subsided a bit and I rarely have it anymore.

My favorite dreams are those when I wake up with a feeling of freedom, like when I dream I am flying. Or when I wake up feeling loved, all warm and cozy, like when I dream of my grandmothers. I dream in color and very vividly. I usually remember at least one dream a night.

Head on over to Lil' Mouse to see what others are dreaming about!

All my dreaming love,

They're heavy on my back~

15 voices of reason:

  1. My meds are giving me the wackiest dreams as of late...for example:

1.I gave birth to triplets, but there was only one baby. Plus the boyfriend didn't care and wanted me to go and get him A & W.
2.My sister was a meth addict who offered herself to my ex-husband for drug money.

    Awesome.

When I was a kid I used to have nightmares that I was flying...or I moved in slow motion and couldn't go any faster and kept getting frustrated.

And someone kidnapping you? I would have to keep the calm pills beside my pillow, dude.

    Love ya always.

  2. Wow Tracey...these sound a lot like my dreams. (Well, the chasing/danger elements anyway.) This might be weird but it comforts me that I'm not the only one with dreams that scare me. But hooray for your happy dreams - I've also had those "flying" dreams, and they are wonderful! Happy FM and a belated Happy Easter to you too!

  3. At least you can run ! When I try to run away from something or somebody I run and run but I don't move a bit ! My legs are so heavy !

  4. I like that after some of your dreams you feel freedom and after some dreams you have a feeling of love. Perhaps, your real life impacts your dream life; or in the case of sweet dreams, your dreams influence your real life. Maybe it is that way for all of us.

  5. got you linked! glad those dreams are subsiding a bit! how scary! also glad you wake up feeling loved. I'm not sure I've ever felt like that!

  6. Over the weekend I dreamed that Mount Rainier erupted. It was very disturbing and feeling that something bad is going to happen is still with me. I really need a warm fuzzy dream!

  7. I don't remember dreams very often. Usually when I do they are the ones that seem so real and I can't stop thinking about them all day.

  8. Those are some weird dreams, especially the spiderman one. Half the time I can't remember what I dream about. But when I do remember, I just tell myself they are only dreams and not real.

  9. Hmmm... I dreamed of someone in my living room this morning. I can't remember who but I knew they didn't belong. then the alarm went off.
Dreams are such a healthy escape. They allow you to take risks with no real danger.

  12. I have dreamed many scary dreams but they say you always find a way out. Usually that way is to wake up. :D

  13. The kidnapping dream must be pretty scary. You have reminded me that I used to dream I had lost my children and wake up crying. I had forgotten all about that until I read this.

  14. Dream interpreters say that scary dreams are about conflicts we meet in waking life and once we face that fear/conflict, the dream will disappear.

I normally do not remember my dreams. But when I do remember a dream, I will get up and write it down to tell someone in the morning.

  15. I definitely like your happier dreams as well. I love the "wake up feeling warm and cozy" ones. I don't remember those very often, but now and again, I have one of those, and even when I don't remember the dream specifically, that "warm and cozy" feeling stays with you through the day. I love that!

Yes, I realize I'm late getting through the Fun Mondayers, but hey, better late than never, right? ;-)
