Going To the Valley

I don't talk much about music because I like so many different kinds of music. I like a little of this and a little of that. But I feel like I should mention a favorite recently on my Zune. I really love this band and the fact that the lead singer comes from Maryland is a bonus. The name of the band is The Kelly Bell Band. Maybe I love the sound of this band because they are as eclectic as my tastes. As a matter of fact, when asked to describe the sound of his band, Kelly Bell described it as "Phat Blues." Here is how Kelly explains Phat Blues:

"If you could imagine Muddy Waters wearing a Bob Marley T-shirt riding on Black Sabbath's tour bus on their way to a Parliament Funkadelic concert, listening to Sammy Davis Junior on an 8-track tape humming a Run DMC song, that would be close to what we do..."

One of my (and Ladybug's) favorite songs is Going to the Valley. Kelly's voice is so mesmerizing in this song and the lyrics are great. The guitar is perfection as well. LB (Ladybug) and I listened to it 3 times in a row on the way home from Wal Mart the other day:

Going To The Valley

I'm goin to the valley
Where I can get some peace
I'm goin to the valley
Where I can get some peace
I just want to be alone
Don't you try
Don't you try
Don't you try to follow me
You can't keep up with me

I've packed all my things
I wear them on my back
I've packed all my things
They're heavy on my back
Pray I do not trip and fall
I can't see
I can't see
I can't see the road I'm on
You can't tell where I am

A bee flys with me
Keep buzzin' round my head
A bee flys with me
Keep buzzin' round my head
I can't get him from my face
You don't know
You don't know
You don't know the buzzin' bee
He buzzes just for me

I'm goin to the valley
Where I can get some peace
I'm goin to the valley
Where I can get some peace
I just want to be all one
Don't you cry
Don't you cry
Don't you cry a tear for me
Keep you tears for yourself
Save your tears for yourself

I'm goin to the valley
Where I can get some peace

If you notice the quotes that I sometimes change underneath my signature, this is where it comes from. I love that line, because who doesn't have all their burdens weighing on their shoulders? Love it!

I so wish I could be in Frederick tonight at Old Towne Tavern listening to them play live tonight, but I can't! It is on my date list to go see these guys in concert soon.

Here is a sample of my faves:
